My name is Alyssa (or AJ), I’m a 4th year double major in PoliSci and Geography, one of this years SLC co-chairs, and am easily identifiable by my nerd-glasses high-bun combination.
I am running for re-election as a student senator because I feel I am the ideal candidate to continue to provide a strong student voice at the governing level of the University. The Senate position for a student is usually not a venue for making huge changes; it is about ensuring that the needs of students are considered at all levels of discussion.
My experience at UBC has allowed me to have this strong student voice and this year I hope to ensure that it is Arts students in particular I represent. From my role as the Faculty of Arts PoliSci student representative to a vast involvement history from Residence Life to UBC Rec, I know this campus and it’s students.
